Advancing Ocean Data: EGI and Blue-Cloud 2026 sign SLA

EGI is excited to announce a significant Service Level Agreement (SLA) with the Horizon Europe project Blue-Cloud 2026, providing Cloud Compute, Online Storage, and Check-in services to operate and strengthen the WebODV platform for ocean science.
About Blue-Cloud 2026
Blue-Cloud 2026 is evolving the pilot ecosystem developed in the Horizon 2020 phase into a federated European ecosystem, delivering FAIR and Open data and analytical services crucial for in-depth research of the ocean, EU seas, coastal & inland waters. This project creates a thematic marine extension to EOSC, supporting open web-based science and addressing the needs of the EU Blue Economy, marine environment, and Marine Knowledge agendas.
EGI Services Included in the SLA
The SLA encompasses EGI Cloud Compute, Online Storage, and Check-In services, offering a comprehensive solution for deploying and scaling virtual machines on-demand, ensuring guaranteed computational resources in the cloud. The collaboration extends to showcase the integration of EGI Federated Cloud resources with the WebODV platform, adopting a Bring Your Own Compute (BYOC) and Storage (BYOS) approach. Additionally, EGI Check-In facilitates secure authentication, ensuring seamless access to resources.
Why It Matters
This collaboration between EGI and the Blue-Cloud 2026 project is a significant milestone in advancing ocean data analytics. By combining state-of-the-art computing, storage, and authentication services, the partnership empowers researchers working on diverse projects within the realm of marine sciences. The SLA exemplifies the crucial role of accessible and scalable infrastructure in fostering innovation and progress in oceanographic research.
