Discover the ECHOES Project
EGI is a partner in the ECHOES project (launch June 1 2024, Project Coordinator: CNRS). The project's mission is to set up the European Collaborative Cloud for Cultural Heritage (ECCCH), a shared platform designed to facilitate collaboration among heritage professionals and researchers, enabling them to modernise their workflows and processes. ECCCH will offer access to data, cutting-edge scientific and training resources, and advanced digital tools, all developed collaboratively by the heritage community to meet their specific requirements.
Within ECHOES, EGI works on the integration of tools, workflows, and datasetsfrom the broader landscape. Moreover, we support the technical framework and infrastructure with a scalable and secure storage and compute infrastructure. Also, EGI provides authentication and authorization infrastructure (AAI) for the single entry point in the cloud environment. Allowing the ecosystem to scale up by offering practical guidance on integrating authentication into the project’s AAI.
Last but not least, EGI contributes to the project’s long-term sustainability leverages ECCCH’s advocacy and open innovation by engaging with the private sector.
ECHOES will integrate the currently fragmented communities within the Cultural Heritage (CH) sector, bringing together diverse actors from various fields and disciplines into a cohesive community focused on the Digital Commons.
As partner in the project, EGI will contribute to the project by aligning its solutions with broader EU initiatives, such as the European Open Science Cloud (EOSC), ensuring consistency, interoperability, and compliance with EU-wide cloud strategies. This alignment will strengthen the project’s ability to leverage shared infrastructure, standards, and best practices, fostering collaboration and scalability within the European research ecosystem.
