EGI2024: project meetings

EGI2024 is not only about the core conference days, there’s also a bustling range of side activities. I would like to highlight and thank the EGI coordinated and participated projects that organise a project meeting at our conference. The synergies between these project meetings and the main programme are essential to showcase the wide range of activities that help the growth of the EGI community, and infrastructure.

SPECTRUM is organising an in-person all-hands meeting. SPECTRUM brings together leading European science organisations and e-Infrastructure providers to formulate a Strategic Research, Innovation, and Deployment Agenda (SRIDA) along with a Technical Blueprint for a European computer and data continuum. Are you interested in SPECTRUM activities? The project is hosting the public session ‘Roadmapping for high energy physics and radio astronomy’ on Wednesday afternoon.
GreenDIGIT brings together 4 major distributed Digital Infrastructures EGI, SLICES, SoBigData, and EBRAINS, to tackle the challenge of environmental impact reduction by providing technical solutions, training, consultancy and policies that are reusable across the whole spectrum of digital service providers on ESFRI and beyond. Do you want to know more about Green Computing? Make sure to drop in on the GreenDIGIT organised open session ‘Green Computing: towards greener digital services’ on Tuesday at 11 AM (note: this session takes place as a co-located event before the official start of the conference).
EOSC Beyond, the project that supports the growth of the European Open Science Cloud (EOSC) by providing new EOSC Core technical solutions and Candidate EOSC Nodes, is having a project all-hands meeting on Thursday afternoon. If you want to know more about EOSC, EOSC Beyond and the role EGI plays in them, make sure to attend the session ‘Empowering Open Science: EGI Community's Impact on EOSC’ on Wednesday!
interTwin co-designs and implements the prototype of an interdisciplinary Digital Twin Engine (DTE), an open-source platform that provides generic and tailored software components for modelling and simulation to integrate application-specific Digital Twins (DTs). interTwin is organising a closed meeting for their external advisory board on Wednesday, and an EC review preparation meeting on Thursday. interTwin is hosting two open sessions, titled Replicating and predicting complex systems with scientific Digital Twins, on Tuesday and project partners are also presenting the project and its DTE modules in other sessions.
ENVRI-Hub NEXT will offer a user-friendly platform for seamless access to data from environmental Research Infrastructures, fostering interdisciplinary research and driving breakthroughs in environmental science. The project has a consortium meeting on Thursday and Friday, and is hosting the session ‘Unlocking the Potential of Environmental Data’ on Tuesday afternoon.
iMagine, providing AI imaging data and services for aquatic science, will have a side meeting to discuss status and uptake of its AI Platform and thematic image analysis services. iMagine will also be presented during the session ‘Processing Research Data with Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning’.
If you want to hear more about these projects, make sure to visit the EGI Booth at the exhibition!
The organisational support offered by these projects allows us to organise a stellar main event - providing technical support for the main sessions (interTwin, SPECTRUM, EOSC Beyond and ENVRI-Hub NEXT), supporting the poster and demonstration sessions (SPECTRUM and ENVRI-Hub NEXT), the networking reception (iMagine and EOSC Beyond), the FitSM training event, and transport between the conference venues and transport hubs (SPECTRUM, interTwin).
