Meet the EGI2024 Exhibitors: FAIR-IMPACT, RDA TIGER, FAIRCORE4EOSC

FAIR-IMPACT RDA Tiger FAIRCORE4EOSC

Get to know the exhibitors at EGI2024 in this series of interviews, meet us in Lecce, Italy from 1-3 October! Today, let's discover the Joint Interoperability booth with FAIR-IMPACT, RDA TIGER, and FAIRCORE4EOSC.

All roads lead to Interoperability: FAIR-IMPACT, RDA TIGER and FAIRCORE4EOSC

Can you explain what these three projects do?

All three projects work towards supporting and promoting interoperability mechanisms across domains and institutions and foster a global alignment of FAIR frameworks.

FAIR-IMPACT focuses on enabling the FAIR principles for EOSC across scientific communities, stakeholder groups and research outputs at a European, national and institutional level, FAIR-IMPACT improves the access to and management of increasing volumes of FAIR data and other research outputs stimulating the development and uptake of a wide range of innovative services.

RDA TIGER brings together and supports the powerful Research Data Alliance community and supports Working Groups that concretely align, harmonise and standardise Open Science developments and technologies globally. The project directly contributes to the European Open Science Cloud Partnership by encouraging, facilitating and channelling the RDA community response and aligning policies, technologies, methodologies, practices and other outputs of EOSC-related and other European Open Science developments.

Finally, FAIRCORE4EOSC focuses on the development and realisation of core components for the European Open Science Cloud (EOSC). Via leveraging existing technologies and services, the project aims to develop nine new EOSC-Core components aimed to improve the discoverability and interoperability of an increased amount of research outputs.

What is the relationship with EGI?

The three participating projects (FAIR-IMPACT, RDA TIGER and FAIRCORE4EOSC) share EGI’s vision and mission of harmonisation and interoperability of tools, services and systems as well optimise collaboration and align intra-European and global partnerships. Similarly to the EGI Foundation, all projects are key in supporting the implementation of the European Open Science Cloud (EOSC).

Why do you think it’s important to be at EGI2024?

Participating as exhibitors in EGI 2024 will provide us with a unique opportunity and platform to showcase our combined effort to tackle the challenges of interoperability, highlight our achievements so far and outline our plans for the future. It is a strategic event, bringing together international scientific communities, computing and service providers, and key European projects. We are looking forward to discussing our solutions and aligning our strategies with broader European and global initiatives participating.

What can people expect when they come to your booth?

You can expect to learn more about our efforts on FAIR Implementation, Interoperability, and a portfolio of dedicated services that support the international engagement and alignment of policies, technologies, methodologies, and practices. We are eager to discuss and highlight how our projects’ results can be adapted to different research and data communities and explore potential collaborations with like-minded individuals, initiatives and organisations.

Can delegates see you in other sessions/demonstrations/workshops/posters?

Don’t miss our 1-minute pitch on Tuesday 1st October after the opening session. Looking forward to meeting you all at EGI 2024!
