Can you explain what LifeWatch ERIC does?

LifeWatch ERIC is the e-Science European Infrastructure for Biodiversity and Ecosystem Research, with a specific and unique niche in the European and International context. It makes available data, services, advanced collaborative interfaces, and more complex research environments, through its web portal (www.lifewatch.eu), to discover, access, harmonise, standardise, integrate, analyse data and model biodiversity and ecosystems.

What is the relationship with EGI?

LifeWatch ERIC and EGI share similar missions providing e-Science solutions supporting data-intensive research and advancing scientific understanding in Europe. Our collaboration has been consolidated in a number of European Projects, like ENVRI-Hub Next, EOSC Beyond, ANERIS.

Why do you think it’s important to be at EGI2024?

EGI2024 is a relevant platform to showcase LifeWatch ERIC open science services, resources and tools designed for biodiversity and ecosystem researchers to improve the FAIRness of both data and services, give visibility to innovative solutions developed by the LifeWatch ERIC team through the application of disruptive technologies (i.e. AI and Blockchain) to ecological research, and last but not least demonstrate advanced tools for collaborative research in cloud environments. 

What can people expect when they come to your booth?

LifeWatch ERIC staff members will be waiting for you at our exhibition booth to introduce you to our unique e-Science infrastructure for biodiversity and ecosystem research, guiding participants to the discovery of our wide offer of resources and services. Moreover, we invite participants to visit our booth offering visitors demonstrations of the three services we are presenting at EGI 2024: the Metadata Catalogue, LifeBlock and NaaVRE. Last but not least, this will be a great opportunity for us to listen and better understand your needs and to explore new opportunities for collaboration.
