New record: EGI has delivered more than 7B CPU Hours
We’re excited to inform our community that the EGI Federation reached a new record: we have delivered more 7B CPU Hours through the EGI High-Throughput Compute platform. We would like to thank all our partners who commit their infrastructures to international research.
With High-Throughput Compute, users can run computational jobs at scale on the EGI infrastructure. It allows users to analyse large datasets and execute thousands of parallel computing tasks.
It is not only HTC usage that is growing
Our Cloud CPU Hours delivery is also exponentially growing thanks to EGI Federated Cloud. Our users consumed over 67M CPU hrs during the last 12 months – this is a sharp increase compared to 30M CPU hrs delivered in 2020.
The EGI Federated Cloud is a distributed cloud compute platform for advanced scientific computing that brings together tens of major research cloud providers across Europe. The purpose of this federated infrastructure is to boost research data exploitation and usage of cloud services to increase research productivity and time to discoveries. By federating multiple providers, it brings cloud computing, data processing and analytics tools next to the data, making national advanced compute facilities accessible to research communities across organizations and national borders, and simplifying data utilization by making it available with relevant application tools.
